PSLA Statement - Certification Staffing Policy Guideline 48:

In April of 2018, the Pennsylvania Department of Education released their Certification Staffing Policy Guideline (#48) regarding Library Science.  As per their website, "The Certification and Staffing Policy Guidelines (CSPGs) provide guidance and clarification to educators regarding (1) the issuance of professional certificates, (2) the grade level and content scope of certificate subject areas and (3) the appropriate certificate for staffing professional positions in public schools.  In this section, you will find a valuable research guide for certificate eligibility as well as for proper staffing practices that achieve educational excellence in the schools of the Commonwealth."

PSLA recently released an official statement regarding this guideline.  To read the statement, please click HERE.

While CSPG 48 is a guideline, not an official mandate, it can be valuable for school librarians as they plan and advocate for their library programs.
